My research focuses on addressing contemporary environmental problems and social conflicts surrounding the management of wild and domestic animals. My PhD research (completed 2017) employed social scientific methodologies to understand and inform the management of introduced and reintroduced species: monk parakeets in southeast England, Eurasian beavers in Devon, and grey squirrels across the UK. I have an MA in Anthrozoology (2012) and a BSc in Animal Behaviour (2008).
From 2017-2020 I led the social research component of an interdisciplinary project that is working with domestic cats and their owners to understand how people think and feel about their pets’ hunting behaviour, and to explore the effectiveness and suitability of various methods to reduce cat predation on vulnerable wildlife.
