Natasha HammondPhD Researcher
University of Exeter

I am a microbiologist and Open University graduate beginning a career in research at the University of Exeter after four years of industry experience in pathology, medical device decontamination and pharmaceutical manufacturing. I am enthused by everything microbiological and have a particular interest in bacterial pathogens.

My PhD aims to uncover the host-environment interactions that drive the transmission of bovine tuberculosis (bTB) in badger populations and to explore the role of host microbiomes as a tool for understanding the transmission networks of wildlife pathogens. My research is funded by the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) in collaboration with the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA).
