Dr Helen Fielding MRCVS
My research with the Wildlife Science group focused on the epidemiology of bTB in British cattle. I utilised network analysis methods to explore cattle movements in Britain and how they relate to disease transmission. My PhD (completed 2019) was an industry CASE studentship sponsored by the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council and the Animal and Plant Health Agency. I graduated as a veterinary surgeon from the Royal Veterinary College in 2010 and worked in large and small animal practice and in the pharmaceutical industry before starting my PhD. My main research interests are infectious diseases in livestock, veterinary epidemiology and animal welfare.
I am now working with Professor Richard Mellanby and Professor Mark Bronsvoort at the University of Edinburgh, studying the impact of neutering on free-roaming dog populations in India in a collaboration with Worldwide Veterinary Services funded by the Dog’s Trust.
