Dr Matthew Silk

Dr Matt SilkI am an ecologist interested in understanding how animal social behaviour is linked to broader ecological processes. My research uses social networks to understand the dynamics of animals’ social lives, and explore the causes and consequences of differences among individuals and populations. My research with the Wildlife Science group explored how disease dynamics are related to patterns of social interactions in European badger populations. My previous research has explored dispersal and foraging behaviour in a social context. I am also interested in how statistical models of social networks can be used to better understand animal social behaviour.
